Here's what the numbers are telling us for Round 1.
How We Pick Our Tips
Every tip comes from our XGBoost machine learning model trained on multi-season AFL data. We only release tips above 65% model confidence — anything below that is a NO BET. The model doesn't barrack for anyone; it just reads the numbers.
Tips are rated by stake size:
- 💰 VALUE (1u) — 65–74% model confidence
- 💪 STRONG (2u) — 75–84% model confidence
- 🏆 BANKER (3u) — 85%+ model confidence
Key Factors for Round 1
A few things stand out from our model's inputs this week:
- Home ground advantage is weighted heavily in Round 1 — travel disruption, crowd noise and familiarity all matter more in an opening game than mid-season.
- Pre-season form is a noisy signal but we include it with low weighting — teams that clicked early tend to start strong.
- Head-to-head records over the last 5 seasons are given significant weight — some matchups are genuinely one-sided regardless of current form.
